People in these new nations were acustom to different traditions, therefore it was to unite them. Many were unable to sustain a democratic rule, and colonial rulers didn't provide any of the preparation needed to be able to sustain a government. In addition these new countries experienced revolution and or civil war. The wealthy, western-educated people were the ones in control, this caused the much of the population to be poor and enabled them to advance. One-party dictatorships also became common, and as the nations found out, this was not a successful way to govern.
